The Icarus Kid self-titled debut album
Looks like back in 2010, when the amazing Kid Icarus Uprising was barely announced to bring back our legendary NES era hero, The Icarus Kid (AKA Dan Crowdus) was hard at work with this upbeat look back at some of the tracks of that wonderful regular Nintendo past. Purchase and sample this release over through The Kid Icarus website and reminisce about traversing dungeons and climbing towers in...

Power Up Review: Fire Flower
Got that fire flower, spit that fire power. Unlike the defensive capabilities of the mushroom, or the platforming safety of a cape/tail, this item is all about offense.  I love the fire flower, it is the haven for platform jumpers living on the edge. I have had some great times with other items, but the fire flower has always been there when I needed it most. Platform after platform, goomba...

City of Thieves - New Game + album
Been rocking this album with mad swag as I hustle and grind. While I am trying to get mine, you should get this album. City of Thieves mashes up Himself of Shadowrunners’ swaggering lyrics against some wild video game beats. Max out that swag to 100% and start a New Game +. ORIGINAL ARTICLE

J.3K - Press Start: The NES Sessions
Sick spits from J.3k and crew. Press Start and enter the dope rhythms and rhymes of The NES Sessions. Not one, but two Earthbound beats on this album that I got to mention. Heavy hitting rhymes over some banging game remixes that sound like they’re “worth a million points.” <a href=”http://j3kmusic.bandcamp.com/album/press-start-the-nes-sessions”...

Video Game Magazine Memories: Game Buyer
Isn’t that just the most boring title for any video game magazine? Imagine looking at an issue on the shelf at the supermarket, “Game Buyer? Hey, I buy games! This must be the magazine for me.” With such a boring moniker, it’s hard to imagine this was the rebirth of the far less boring Ultra Game Players magazine. UGP ended after reaching over a hundred issues, finding...

I used to enjoy Square games immensely, and got way hyped about every new series and offshoot of a series they would announce. In the Square heyday of Final Fantasy VI through IX, alongside other amazing efforts out of Square during that span I was all in on that company. Power Up Review: Mario's Mushrooms
The Super Mushroom*, one of gaming’s greatest icons. Unfortunately, this classic middleman to the good power-ups has been cast down into the pits of disgrace. The Super Mushroom came onto the scene back in the original Super Mario Bros back in ‘85. Back when that game was kicking my ass, the Super Mushroom was a dear friend, helping me stave off death for just a few moments more.  ...

KameDaniRyuu 亀ダニ流: Mother 2 Re-release Discussion... →
kamedani: With Mother 2 (Aka Earthbound) being (finally!) re-released in Japan on the Wii U Virtual Console in just 2 days, Satoru Iwata and Shigesato Itoi sat down with Mr. Nagata (posted as “—” in the article) from Hobo Nichi to discuss different things about Earthbound. This is a three part series that… I know what I’m stopping everything to read right now.

Thanks, you.
Wow, when did I get 193 followers? Thanks for all the support, despite my errant posting schedule. I’m currently scrounged up in a burrow until time sees fit to hand me back my impulse to create.  Until then, I tweet a lot. @genoboost And go through some of the archives. Masahiro Sakurai is such a great game developer. When I play games he has made, and there is some aspect I don’t like, I won’t feel that the game is bad. Instead I feel like I am playing the game wrong.  Sakurai is a great developer. I just suck at playing games.

safestsephiroth asked: embarrassing to admit but I've gone to GM4A for about a year now and totally forgot that you're the guy behind that site. Holy crap, you really are the source of almost all the game music I find! (alongside Dwelling of Duels and OCRemix.) The overwhelming majority of music I have and listen to came through your efforts. Thanks!

Anonymous asked: Your blog remains, by and large, one of the most well-written, well-thought, and well-connected blogs I've personally witnessed on tumblr. Plenty can pretend they're talented writers, or claim they're talented writers. You have the chops to back it up.

The injustice of waiting for Injustice
Man this fighting game renaissance is just so amazing. I had completely forgotten how great fighting games are for a couple years, then SFIV starts this big fighting game rebirth we are seeing here and I could not be happier.  But we have now hit a lull that I fear may be the tail end of this grand time. It has been several months since Persona 4 Arena came out (and what a glorious time that...

Crossing the X’s and Dotting the Y’s is the place for all my Pokemon related thoughts as we build up to Pokemon X and Pokemon Y this October. I wouldn’t call breeding Pokemon ‘difficult’ per se.
